I find it much more interesting to capture and document places using objects and people instead of buildings. Buildings and other structures don't change massively and everyone's perception of them is quite similar, resulting in photos/drawings of them often getting repetitive. I love capturing the sense of a place through smaller details instead - memories of ephemera, objects or smells, for example. That way, the result is more personal and the perception varies from person to person.
This illustration is my version of East London.
